Mr Bell was born again at the age of 12 and attended the Bethany Hall at Bridgeton.
He was heavily involved in the Gospel outreach and also played the keyboard.
Since his youth, Mr Bell has always been a keen reader.
He came into a knowledge of the Doctrines of Grace through his reading and discussions
with fellow Christians. This ultimately brought him out of the Bethany Hall to join
Zion Baptist Church, founded by Pastor Jack Glass in 1965.
In the same year he married Irene, whom he met in the Bethany Hall.
In 1968 Mr Bell was appointed an elder in Zion Baptist and studied in the Free Church of Scotland
College in Edinburgh from 1971-1975, receiving a Diploma in Theology.
On occasions, Mr Bell deputised for Pastor Glass. He protested with the Pastor across
Scotland wherever the name of Christ was compromised and he protested against the World
Council of Churches in Nairobi, Kenya in 1975.
Mr Bell has always had a passion for God’s people world wide, in particular,
the persecuted saints. This interest has taken Mr Bell and Irene to meet God’s people in Israel,
Canada, Malta, Madeira, Russia, Romania and Latvia.
Following the Pastor’s death in 2004 Mr Bell was appointed Assistant Pastor.
This was in accordance with the Pastor’s wishes. Mr Bell continues to preach,
protest and also is the editor of the Church’s magazine, the Scottish Protestant View.
Mr Bell and Irene have three daughters, four grandsons and one granddaughter.
